October 16 - November 16 2026

opening reception: friday, october 16 5-7pm

Farm Projects is pleased to present If, atmosphere, a four-person exhibition bringing together work by Megan Biddle, Pablo Manga, May Tveit, and Jon Verney. These four artists are longtime “farmers,” that is, artists who have exhibited and maintained relationships with Farm Projects for several years. All have previously mounted solo shows in the gallery, and this upcoming exhibition offers an opportunity to experience their work in conversation. The show opens with a public reception on Friday, October 16, from 5 to 7pm.

Each of the included artists use a process of inquiry without prescribed outcomes. They begin with a clear intention, but leave room for the outcome to have a life of its own. The title of the exhibition is drawn from this initial if/then logic that characterizes each practice, which then leads to ‘atmospheric’ results. As curator Susie Nielsen describes, “If, atmosphere came to be the title because, each artist’s rigorous process results in work that is not fully concrete, but more a feeling, a mist or experience, that comes over one when being in front of the work.”

The exhibition includes works selected from a range of periods in each artist’s work, confirming the rigor of their persistent questioning. For each artist, the central question in their work remains consistent through the years, but as the exhibition illustrates, by staying open to the outcome and knowing there is no one answer, their use of material, color, light, chemicals, or relationship evolve. By showcasing the connection between their steadfast intellectual commitments and their simultaneous relinquishing of control, the exhibition offers a window into how key inquiries have shaped each life and practice.

About the Artists

Megan Biddle is a sculptor with a printmaking and drawing practice. Through a blend of traditional and experimental techniques, her practice transitions fluidly between two and three dimensions, as drawings inspire sculptures that, in turn, evolve into prints. This generative process allows her to move between the immediacy of pencil on paper and the precise, measured steps of casting glass. She creates work that embodies phenomena of the natural world, measures of time, and the cycles of life and death.

She has attended residencies at Macdowell, The Jentel Foundation, The Creative Glass Center of America, Sculpture Space, The Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Pilchuck Glass School, Northlands Creative Glass in Scotland, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Mass MOCA. She has exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including The Islip Art Museum and the Everson Museum of Art in New York; the Philadelphia Art Alliance in Philadelphia, PA.; Shau Fenster and NationalMuseum in Berlin, Old Suko School (Kyu-Suko-Do) in Iga Japan and La Nao Galeria in Mexico City. In 2024 she received the Independence Foundation Fellowship in the Arts and her work has been acquired into the American Embassy’s permanent collection in Riga, Latvia. She was a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid from 2016 to 2023, during which she served as Co-Director for a significant portion of that time. This will be her second show at farm projects.

Pablo Manga’s work is indebted to meditation practice, or, as he describes it, “the shimmering radiance of nature, and the innumerable pleasures of a body in motion.” It is an abstraction of connections and relations, from the social to the spiritual, alluding to dance floor liberation, democratic society, and the interconnection of all living things. To access this vision and to express it, he focuses on perception in an embodied experience of the world, ever in the flux of becoming, and of finding oneself always in the midst of that movement and transformation. He invites viewers to observe themselves seeing, feeling and thinking as the perceptual dynamics of the compositions slowly unfold. This will be his fifth show at farm projects.

The personal and the universal collide in the works of May Tveit (born 1966, Nyack, NY). She is an American sculptor known for large-scale geometric works and installations. Her corrugated cardboard sculptures, prints and assemblages all carry a connection to the physicality of the body while exploring energy flows that transcend material boundaries. Trained in industrial design and descending from a family with roots in carpentry, Tveit has a strong affinity for geometric objects, building systems and a deep interest in the aesthetics of mundane materials.

Tveit’s work has been exhibited at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (KS), the Weatherspoon Art Museum (NC), UK Art Museum (KY) and venues such as Farmprojects (MA) and Secrist Beach gallery (IL). Her work has been featured in publications and media outlets including Art in America, Art Papers, and National Public Radio. Tveit has developed her printmaking practice through residencies at Anderson Ranch (CO), Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (ME), Art Omi (NY), and the Frans Masereel Centrum (BE). She holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, studied in Rome through the RISD European Honors Program, and has a Master’s degree from the Domus Academy in Milan. This will be her fourth show at farm projects.

Jon Verney (b.1987) is a visual artist whose practice interweaves the materiality of painting,  photography, and film to describe notions of dissolution and flux in the physical world. Found imagery, chance-driven chemical reactions, and natural phenomena inform his exploration of film's transformational, fluid qualities. Verney has exhibited his work internationally, and has been an artist-in-residence at SIM in Reykjavík, Iceland, the Vermont Studio Center, the Studios at MASS MoCA, Penland School of Craft, the Independent Imaging Retreat in Ontario, Canada. He holds his MFA from the University of Michigan and a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Painting. His studio practice is based in North Adams, Massachusetts. This will be his second show at farm projects.
