Lyne Lapointe (born in 1957, Montreal) is one of Canada's major multidisciplinary artist. Her influence has been felt in artistic, feminist, and queer circles, as well as in the field of installation art and pictorial practices involving collage techniques with extraordinary craftsmanship. Driven by what she has termed “an archaeology of memory,” her artistic practice involves what has always fascinated her: female desire, popular and historical sources, nature, animal and human imagery, and, by extension, the precarious nature of the visible and invisible, at the limits of the material and the perceptible.

For over forty years, the artist has exhibited her work in Canada, the United States, Brazil, and Europe. She has distinguished herself in prestigious settings such as the São Paulo Biennial, the New Museum in New York, and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, which held a survey exhibition of her work that toured across  Canada and in France. The National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts are some of the country’s leading museums that have acquired her works throughout her career.
